For years I was told the pain was in my head. Turns out it was a major leg fracture missed by my medical team.
I built Phoenix Performance and Rehab out of frustration with a system that never had time to look closely — and a promise to deliver the best quality of care to every patient.
Why I built this practice
When I first injured my leg, I knew my body, and I knew something was wrong. It took years before anyone believed me.
Every visit followed the same script: fifteen rushed minutes with an overworked orthopedist, a shrug, then a PT clinic where I was one of four patients on the floor, handed a sheet of exercises and left with a tech.
The fracture had been there the whole time. By the time anyone found it, it had caused lifelong complications — and it took a major surgery to re-break my leg in several places and begin the healing journey over, from the ground up.
I hadn't just fallen through a crack. I'd fallen through the design.
A system built on volume, a promise to fix pain fast, and a lack of comprehensive, holistic care will keep producing patients like me. So I built the opposite. Every visit at Phoenix Performance and Rehab is sixty minutes, one-on-one, and always with me — because you can't catch what everyone else missed unless someone is actually watching you move and given time to think.
My approach blends rehab chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, dry needling, and strength and performance training in a fully customized program. Progress is measured with VALD data, so it's something you can see, not something you take on faith. Whether you're an athlete, a parent, or just tired of living in pain, my job is to make sure nothing about your case gets overlooked.
Your story doesn't end with pain.

The appointment I needed is the appointment you get
Nothing about how Phoenix Performance and Rehab runs is accidental. Every part of it exists to prevent what happened to me.
Who you'll meet when you arrive
A small practice on purpose. These are the two people behind it.
Kailey Lopez
Co-Owner
What are the odds that both people behind one practice were failed by the same system? Kailey's back surgery didn't deliver the recovery she was promised — it left her doing what so many patients do afterward: passed between providers, repeating her story to people with no time to hear it, wondering if this was just her life now. So when she and Dr. Ashley talk about building a place where nobody falls through the cracks, it isn't a slogan. It's personal for both of them.
Kailey runs everything outside the treatment room — operations, marketing, and the relationships that connect Phoenix Performance and Rehab to San Antonio. She's also who greets you on your first visit, which is deliberate: your first impression here should be a person who knows your name. Expect a coffee before you've had a chance to sit down.
